12 Sunday Habits to Prepare for A Week Ahead

Oh, Sundays. They’re so bitter-sweet. You get to spend the day soaking in self-love, but you also know the work week is fast approaching. However, it’s all about mindset. If you convince yourself of the Monday blues before the work week even begins, you’ve already set yourself up for some exhaustion and negative vibes. So, instead of dreading the week to come, put these Sunday habits into action to prepare for a fabulous week ahead.

Sunday Habits 101

Sunday habits, things to do on Sunday to prepare for the week, mindfulness, meditation, mala beads, Sanskrit necklace, mantra,

Get Some Fresh Air

Cleansing yourself of the negative energy and stress from the previous week before heading into the next will allow you to fully accept the week ahead. And there’s no better way to do just that than to get outdoors to enjoy some fresh air. Rain or shine, dedicate at least 15-minutes of your Sunday and treat yourself to the healing elements of the earth.

Journal Your Thoughts

Whether you’re blogging under an alias, writing in a private journal or recording a video blog for Youtube, don’t forget to spill your thoughts on Sunday. This is another excellent way to spew everything from the previous week, so you can clear some room for positive vibes moving forward.

Take a Bath

Grab some new, colourful bath bombs, turn on some meditation (or calming) music and prepare for some heat. Taking a bath will help relax your mind, body and spirit, with the added bonus of sweating out all that negative energy and toxins. Cleanse, my friends, cleanse!

Create a To-Do List

There’s nothing worse than starting Monday with a million things-to-do floating around your head, and avoiding this can seem impossible. After all, you likely do have a million things to do. However, creating a to-do list on Sunday will prepare you for all the tasks to come. This also allows you to prioritize and organize your thoughts, so you don’t feel so bombarded come Monday.

Meal Plan Mindfulness

What you put into your body is a huge contributor to how you feel. And since you’ll likely be pressing snooze come Monday morning (tsk tsk) and rushing for vending machines come mid-day because you didn’t have time to make a lunch, Mondays can quickly feel quite unbearable. So, set aside some time to meal plan. Choose healthy snacks and mindful meals that will fuel your mind, body and spirit, instead of fuelling the fire of Monday.

Decide What Mala Beads to Wear

Some people organize their outfits for the week on Sundays; we organize what mala beads to wear – and you should do. Mala beads are a fabulous way to remind yourself of your intention and mindful aspirations well throughout the day. The energy (and style) they channel are just as powerful to combating, not only Monday, but the entire week. So, choose some mala beads specific to your goals for the week and you’ll be ready to tackle anything that comes your way. Yes, even the Monday blues.

Find your Mantra

It’s always great to have a mantra (a word or phrase) that can lead you throughout the next week. And if you’re stuck on what mantra to use, wear one! Our Sanskrit necklace collection will remind you of your mantra throughout the day, while also giving you extra style points.

Do Something - Anything

You’re so busy during the week that, come the weekend, you just want to binge the latest Netflix hit. We’ve all been there. However, the weekend is limited and it’s important to take some time to enjoy yourself, see your friends and family, hit up that new local café you’ve been dying to do, and to finally try out that acro-yoga that just popped up in town. Whatever it is, give yourself some time to do something anything.

Unplug and Take Time Away from Tech

Taking time away from the tech is wildly crucial to your mental health and mindfulness. It can be impossible to truly connect with your mind, body and spirit when your phone’s popping up all these likes from your Instagram feed. So, shut it down and unplug for at least an hour on Sunday and just be in the moment.

Read and Relax

Read a book; read our blog; read a magazine; read the little card that arrives in the mail when you purchase something from Mala Prayer. Whatever it is, however big or small, take some time to read on Sunday. It’s an excellent way to relax and escape from the real world. Plus, it makes you smarter!

Reflect and Refresh

Many of the steps provided in this list will help you reflect and refresh for Monday, but just in case, it’s always good to add this extra habit in.

It’s important to reflect on the past week, so you have a clear thought process as you head into the next week. On Sunday, make it a habit to think about everything good that happened; things you’d like to change or get rid of completely (goodbye, toxic relationships), and then refresh your mind by deciding on how you'll do just that.

Meditate for Optimal Mindfulness

This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the importance of meditation on Sunday. Meditation will allow you to become centered and present in the moment, so you can head into the future week feeling just as relaxed. To maximize your meditation efforts, use mala beads specific to your intentions and/or goals. Do a quick search on Mala Prayer for “love”,  “creativity” or whatever you’d like to achieve come Monday, and we’ll provide you with the best mala beads to meditate with.

Sunday is the perfect day of the week to recollect your mind, body and spirit; it’s the perfect day to appreciate everything the previous week had to offer while also cleansing yourself of any leftover negative energy. So, let Sunday be the day where you indulge in whatever it is you want to. Take a hot bath, meditate, go for a walk and enjoy the fresh air, give yourself a facial, journal, and let go of the past, so you can fully embrace the future.
